Eativio privacy policy
Eativio is made by Zabzu LLC (“we”), a Wyoming limited liability company. This policy explains what Eativio collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to delete it. Eativio is in development; we will update this policy before and whenever its data practices change.
Signing in
You can use Eativio without an account, as a guest on your device, or sign in with Apple, Google or a one-time code sent to your email. There are no passwords.
- Guest. Your device keeps a random key; our server stores only a one-way hash of it.
- Apple. We store your Apple account identifier and, encrypted, the token Apple gives us so we can revoke it when you delete your account.
- Google. We store only your Google account identifier, not your name, email or photo.
- Email code. We store your email address. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
We never merge accounts automatically because their email addresses match.
What we store
- Your profile: display name, calorie and nutrient goals and units. If you choose to set them up: age, height, weight, activity level, goal, and sex, used only to estimate a calorie target.
- Your journal: meals you log, with time, foods and nutrition values, earlier versions of edited meals, and any meal photo you choose to save.
- Rate limits: counters keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address, to prevent abuse. We do not store raw IP addresses.
These stay only on your device: Apple Health steps and active energy (read only to show on your iPhone and Apple Watch, never uploaded), portion-measurement captures unless you export them, and an offline copy of your journal.
Photo recognition with OpenAI
When you ask Eativio to recognise food in a photo, the app first asks for your permission. If you agree, a resized copy of that photo is sent to OpenAI to identify the food, with storage at OpenAI turned off. Photos sent only for identification are not kept on our server.
Other services
- USDA FoodData Central: nutrition data we keep in our own database. None of your data is sent to the USDA.
- Open Food Facts: when you scan a barcode, our server looks up a product image using only the barcode.
- Apple and Google: to verify sign-in and, for Apple, revoke access when you delete your account.
- Email delivery: an email provider sends your one-time sign-in codes.
Eativio has no advertising, no analytics or crash-tracking tools, and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell personal information.
Permissions
Camera, to photograph meals and scan barcodes; Apple Health, read only, for steps and active energy; and photos you pick yourself. No location, microphone or notifications.
Export and deletion
You can export your journal as a JSON file from the app. “Delete account & journal” removes your profile, meals, photos, edit history and sign-in links from our server, revokes Apple access and signs you out everywhere. We keep only one-way hashes of old session keys so they can never be reused. You can also email [email protected] to ask for deletion.
Signed-in sessions last 90 days; guest sessions last until you delete them.
Health information and children
Eativio is a food journal, not medical advice. The calorie estimate is for adults aged 18 to 100 and is not offered to people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Eativio is not directed to children under 13.
